A HOST of top European soccer stars are expected to hit North Wales this weekend to watch Liverpool FC striker Djibril Cisse wed his Welsh fiancée. Bodelwyddan castle will be the backdrop for the fairytale wedding between the £14m French international and Bangor-raised Jude Littler. The wedding is set to be the 19th century castle's biggest yet, and is believed to be taking place in the main museum building inside the castle, with the reception in the hotel itself. Every room at the hotel is understood to be booked out to wedding guests for the whole weekend. Cisse's fiancée Jude originally comes from the Bangor area, and up to 2003 lived at Pen y Bryn on the Maesgeirchen estate. Her family still lives in Anglesey, including grandmother Lillian in Newborough. The happy couple are expected to move into Cisse's £2m mansion, Ridge Manor House, on the outskirts of Frodsham, Cheshire. Hunting is banned on his Cheshire estate, which comes with the honorary title Lord of the Manor.
The wedding marks a remarkable end-of-season for Cisse. In October, the Frenchman, who joined Liverpool FC from French club Auxerre last July, suffered a horrific broken left leg in a match against Blackburn. His return to the field at the tail-end of the season was marked by scoring in the penalty shoot-out in the Reds' Champions League final win against AC Milan. |
