Lydia passes on Wales' message to G8 summit

Jun 28 2005

Daily Post

RHODRI Morgan was last night urged to convey the "people's view" from Wales to representatives at the Gleneagles G8 summit.

Activist Lydia Bulmer spent three months cycling round Wales to canvass opinions on global poverty, peace and justice, climate change and the war in Iraq.

The 25-year-old handed her dossier to the Assembly's first minister in the hope he would send a strong message, via Tony Blair, to the world's leaders.

The politics graduate said: "One of the issues people raised was that the Welsh Assembly doesn't have enough powers so we can address these issues ourselves or do something about it."

Lydia said: "People feel the real issues surrounding Africa and climate change are not being addressed."
