A NORTH Wales man is behind bars following a huge £11m drugs bust off the holiday island of Ibiza. Nefyn man Wayne Roberts Bridge, 44, was one of four Britons arrested during a raid by Spanish customs officers. His brother Earl Edwin Bridge, 45, of Pwllheli, has since been released without charge. The drama unfolded when officials boarded British-registered fishing boat 'Quiet Waters' and overpowered the crew before carrying out a search. Police said they found 125 bales of hashish weighing a total of 3.7 tonnes and worth £11.1m on the black market. It was hailed as the biggest haul off Ibiza's coast for 17 years. The operation staged by members of the Customs and Excise Service and the Ibiza Tax Agency took place between Ibiza and the smaller island of Formentera. Police said four Britons and a Moroccan were arrested after the 59ft Quiet Waters flying a British flag was boarded 11 miles from the southwest of Formentera. They were handed over to the national police when the Customs patrol vessel arrived in Ibiza. |
