Views sought on tree project

Nov 3 2005

by Rachel Barrows, Chester Chronicle Newspapers

RESIDENTS in Caia Park are being invited to branch out in their community.

Urban tree-planting scheme Treegeneration and BTCV Cymru have identified opportunities to plant more trees to help revitalise the area.

Treegeneration is a new urban forestry initiative developed by Forestry Commission Wales and other voluntary and environmental organisations to promote the role of trees in regeneration and sustainable development.

Residents of Caia Park are invited to attend an open meeting to discuss proposals for tree planting in the area.

The meeting will take place tomorrow (Friday) from 7-8pm at the Caia Park Partnership building in Prince Charles Road, Caia Park.

There will be a free finger buffet and the chance to view proposed plans for native tree planting on The Dunks and Queensway Terrace area, and is a chance for residents to have their say and suggest additional sites for tree planting.

BTCV Cymru community project officer Katie Birks-Holland said: 'This is an ideal opportunity for people in Caia Park to get involved in this exciting project.

'The proposals are also open for discussion, and we will be welcoming comments from local residents.'

For more information, telephone Katie Birks-Holland on 01978 261538.
