A MAN who crashed into other cars claimed yesterday he only took the wheel because his friend was too drunk to drive. Matthew Parry was found to have 94 microgrammes of alcohol in his breath, compared to the legal limit of 35. Parry, 30, tried to flee after damaging three cars, but was caught by one of the other drivers. Nic Parry, defending, told Flintshire JPs at Mold it was an appalling error of judgment. Parry, of Belmont Crescent, Buckley, admitted drink driving, and driving without insurance. He was banned for two years, given a 12 month community penalty on condition he follows a course for drink impaired drivers, and ordered to pay £55 costs. Mr Parry said his client was taking tablets for depression. |
