Hunt pledge

Dec 9 2005

By Karen Allen, Vale Advertiser

A HUNT master has pledged the traditional gathering through the middle of Denbigh on Boxing Day which attracts large crowds will continue this year and he is inviting members of the public to come and show their support.

Master of the Flint and Denbigh hunt, Ricky Proffitt, said: "We're on course to meet at 11am on Boxing Day.

"We'll have a full pack of hounds and we will be drag hunting which means we will be following a scent someone has already laid down for us.

"Everyone's welcome to come along as always but I don't think we'll be getting any more people joining us than before because we're line hunting.

"People have joined us because of their support for hunting and because they are against the ridiculous new hunting law as it stands.

"People will come out to see us on Boxing Day morning because they support us and of course there are days when we will go out and hunt foxes but it is all done within the law.

"Farmers are extremely supportive of our function as fox control and we hope to see the new laws on fox hunting repealed but it is not known how long this will take," he said.
