A NORTH Wales man yesterday admitted cultivating cannabis after about 1,000 plants were seized by police. Andrew Lawler, 32, of Ty'n y Celyn, Llanelidan, near Ruthin, also admitted possessing the plants with intent to supply. But Judge Merfyn Hughes QC adjourned the case for evidence to be called because of a dispute about the value of the plants. The prosecution claims cannabis from the plants is worth anything between £16,000 and £67,000. But the defence says they are only worth between £3,000 and £5,000. Mold Crown Court heard defence claims the plants were at various stages of development but police had not counted how many plants were at each stage. The judge said it was clearly a matter that would affect sentence and adjourned the case until April for expert evidence to be called. Lawler was granted bail. |
