Proud peacocks put on display in search for new home

YOUNG peacocks at a North Wales park are looking for a new home.

The beautiful birds hatched at GreenWood Forest Park in Y Felinheli last year to the delight of visitors.

But the two males and peahen have grown too large, and staff are looking for new homes for them.

The chicks' proud parents, Pam and Percy, are seen displaying their plumage in the grounds.

Park spokesowoman Stacey Cohen said: "There was immense excitement around their birth. Staff built a special safe area to protect the mother and young chicks. Within only a few weeks, the litter of two male and two female chicks were old enough to fly over the five foot perimeter fence.

"As chicks, little Dion, Mikey, Cara and Daisy were bright yellow. Now the males are developing beautiful colours and the females are an attractive white and fawny brown. They are beautiful and friendly and will eat from your hand."

Unfortunately, the park is unable to accommodate so many of them along with the rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens, plus wild hares, bats and owls.

If anybody can provide a home for the birds, please contact GreenWood Forest Park on 01248 671493.
