THE partner of a farmer jailed for starving his cows has vowed to stay put despite being targeted by animal rights campaigners. William Jones, of Hafod y Bryn farm, Bwlchgwyn, near Wrexham, was locked up for six months on Monday. A government vet said conditions at the 67-year-old's farm were among the worst he'd ever seen. Flintshire magistrates also banned Jones from keeping animals for 15 years. He had previous convictions for animal cruelty and had been jailed before. Yesterday his distraught partner Lynn Smith spoke out after her animals were let loose. Graffiti was also spray-painted on the farm buildings and signs. Former nurse Ms Smith said: "I got up this morning and there was sheep spray all over the tractors, trailers and signs." Slogans such as "You murderous bastard" and "Death farm" were daubed on the property. The pensioner said: "They've let my cows on to the mountain. I had that the last time when they let my sheep into the road. |
