AN ORPHANED fox cub found close to death was this week described as 'bright eyed and bushy tailed' by its rescuers. The tiny seven-week-old vixen, now named Georgie, is being nursed back to health at the Flintshire Wildlife Rescue Centre near Holywell. She was found close to her buried sett on the outskirts of Wrexham on Sunday. Joy Pierce-Jones, who runs the centre, said: 'She is doing well and the plan is to look after her for the next few months until she can be returned to the wild.' Joy said the cub's mother had been shot. She said: 'It was touch and go whether she would survive, but a couple of days on she is looking fine.' Joy added: 'From what we have been told she was lying close to what had been a sett. The entrance had been blocked off and I guess two or three cubs were inside that were basically buried alive.' |
