 A YOB who fed a live rabbit to an alligator was order to pay £100 compensation yesterday after assaulting a 14-year-old. Damien French carried out the "thoroughly unpleasant" attack on the boy six weeks after his horrific rabbit feeding offence at Colwyn Bay Mountain Zoo. Prestatyn magistrates were told the 14-year-old was now scared to enter Rhyl town centre as a result of the unprovoked attack. French, 20, who admitted assaulting the teenager on November 26, 2005, was ordered to pay him £100 compensation. No other penalty was imposed. The court heard French owed fines totalling £890. Last month the yob was given a six-month jail sentence, suspended for 12 months, after being convicted of animal cruelty. He was also banned from keeping animals for 10 years and given a 12-month supervision order. On October 9 last year he and two mates climbed over a wall into the zoo. French grabbed a rabbit from the kids' corner and dropped it into the alligator pool, where it was immediately savaged. |
