Couple celebrate £45m lottery win

10:05, Feb 9 2012

A young couple are celebrating winning a rollover jackpot of more than £45 million in the EuroMillions draw.

The pair, who have not yet been named but are from Nottingham, banked a staggering total of £45,160,170.50, Camelot said.

The prize is seventh on the list of the largest jackpots ever to be won in the UK and the identities of the lucky couple will be revealed at a press conference.

Gareth and Catherine Bull were the last big UK winners nearly three weeks ago when they banked £40,627,241 after matching the numbers from a Lucky Dip ticket on the EuroMillions draw on January 20.

The latest winners matched five numbers and two lucky stars in Tuesday's draw.

The biggest EuroMillions prize was a £161 million jackpot won by Colin and Chris Weir, from Largs, Scotland, last year, but this is the second big win in Nottinghamshire this year.

A Camelot spokesman said: "It is fantastic news to have another UK winner so soon after Gareth and Catherine Bull from Mansfield won £40 million.

"These big draws help raise the £30 million the National Lottery generates for Good Causes every week."

Camelot said Friday's jackpot is an estimated £12 million.
