Tributes to woman stabbed in street

21:05, Mar 13 2010

The family of a woman stabbed to death in the street has paid tribute to a "wonderful mother, daughter and sister".

Tracy Dryden, 37, a nurse and mother of two from Ingleton, North Yorkshire, was attacked on Friday morning on School House Lane in Halton, Lancaster.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene at 8.30am following reports of an "incident" between a man and a woman.

Mrs Dryden, who was completing a Phd, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family issued a statement, saying: "Tracy was a loving and wonderful mother, daughter and sister.

"She had many friends and real enthusiasm for walking, swimming, running and climbing with her sons.

"She was completely dedicated to her two children, whilst at the same time working and completing her Phd.

"She will be dreadfully missed by us all and is an irreplaceable part of all our lives."

John Dryden, 43, of Thacking Lane, Ingleton, North Yorkshire, has been charged with murder and will appear at Lancaster Magistrates' Court on Monday.
