CAB’s health surgery helps relieve doctors

Apr 27 2007

by Matt Sims, Vale Advertiser

A PROJECT which aims to improve people’s general health and well-being is now only an appointment away according to an advice worker.

The Better Advice Better Health initiative is a partnership between the Citizens Advice Bureau and Welsh Assembly Government in co-operation with primary health teams throughout Wales.

The scheme is run locally and specialist advice worker Eleri Jones is now holding regular outreach sessions at Beech House GP surgery on Denbigh’s Vale Street.

“We aim to give advice to patients at the doctor’s surgery to improve their general health,” she said.

“This is done firstly by resolving non-medical issues such as money worries, relationship problems and poor housing, which may well have a detrimental impact on health.”

As well as helping patients, the project is designed to relieve some of the workload of family doctors and their staff.

Better Advice Better Health operates every Friday at the surgery. Anyone wanting to make use of the service should call in to make an appointment.
