The popular Dai Chef and his helper for the day, his son Daniel, were cooking up fresh bread, speciality sausages and eggs first thing in the morning followed by a demonstration of a lunch-time menu for visitors in the food hall. Onlookers enjoyed the daring antics from the Royal Signal's White Helmet motorcycle display team as well as the show jumping and the fun, games and more than a little bit of skullduggery that went on with the inter-hunt relay race. Members of the WI from Clocaenog were celebrating a fine win when they were given Best in Show Craft Exhibition and one member, Carol Upton, became the first recipient of the Amice Hubback Vosper Shield for her quilted bag. "We were really surprised but also absolutely over the moon," she said. Speaking the following day, show secretary Linda Brooks-Roberts, said it had been a fantastic turnout and she stressed it couldn't have gone so smoothly without the help of over 250 stewards. "We've already had a number of phone calls this morning from people saying how much they enjoyed the show and are looking forward to the next one and we've also had our first request for a trade stand for next year's show so we're definitely doing something right!" Among the array of stands there was anything from massive cranes and vast tractors to healing balms and ointments for all manner of animals and humans. |
