CAMERON WHITE led Somerset to a three-wicket win over Gla-morgan in their C&G Trophy encounter at Swansea. The all-rounder struck an unbeaten 109 from 127 balls with four sixes and eight fours. But at one stage Somerset had looked in real trouble at 26-3 in pursuit of a target of 204. But 22-year-old White, who only took over the captaincy from injured Ian Blackwell this week, went on to score more than half his side's runs. Somerset did encounter a few scares on the way before White and Richard Johnson steadied the ship and Johnson struck a six to win the match with three overs left. Put into bat Glamorgan were soon in trouble and found themselves in familiar territory at 17-2. But with Mark Cosgrove and Michael Powell playing some confident shots they managed a mini-recovery. But just as Powell looked well set he holed out at deep mid-wicket to give Cullen an important wicket. Cosgrove had looked in dangerous mood but three deliveries after going to a 58-ball half-century the South Australian was brilliantly caught by White. But 203 proved to be around 20 runs too short with Somerset winning comfortably enough. A CENTURY stand between Stuart Law and Luke Sutton set up a five-wicket victory for Lancashire against Scotland in Edinburgh. When they came together at the crease, the Red Rose county were in trouble at 28-3, needing 168 on a tricky surface. But the pair steadied the ship and paved the way for the success which kept alive Lancashire's quest to win the North Conference. |
