TWO goals from former Bangor City player Alex Hay, who joined Rhyl in the summer, put Rhyl right back on track for a challenge for the £10,000 jackpot in the Welsh Premier Loosemores Cup. Looking to revive their bid in Group A after being pipped 2-1 at Caernarfon last week, John Hulse's side turned on another consuming performance to leave Bangor trailing. Rhyl went in front midway through the first half when George Horan headed home a Stuart Graves corner from 10 yards, minutes after Bangor player-manager Clayton Blackmore had gone close with one of the few chances City created. Sion Edwards wasn't far off target with another good effort but Rhyl widened the gap on the hour when Hay and Andy Moran combined down the left before Hay hammered a tremendous daisy-cutter from 25 yards into the far corner. Bangor failed to clear a free-kick on 65 minutes and were punished as Timmy Edwards headed in number three and Rhyl's night was completed when Mark Connelly fed livewire Hay who scored his second on eighty minutes. No one contributed more to Rhyl's polished display than industrious Connal Murtagh in midfield.
