Welsh Cup preview CONNAH'S Quay Nomads will be hoping to put last weekend's defeat to Welshpool behind them when they head south to Newport YMCA. But assistant boss Alan Morgan expects a tough challenge. He said: 'It's never easy playing teams from lower leagues and we expect a tough match. We understand the pitch isn't the best we will play on this season and we have to be aware they will battle for everything. 'We have a fully fit squad, including myself, and hopefully we can get an early goal to settle things down. It's important we kill the game off if we can.' Following Saturday's long trek south Nev Powell's team face a potentially much tougher trip to Rhyl on Tuesday night for a Loosemores Challenge Cup game which will see Marc Limbert return to his old club for the first time. But Morgan says they have to take one game at a time and they won't think about Tuesday's game until after the Welsh Cup third-round match on Saturday. He added: 'First of all we need to make sure we all come back fit from South Wales - you can't plan until we know who is available. But it's obviously a big game for us.' AIRBUS UK also face a potential banana skin and a trip to South Wales to take on minnows Bridgend. Boss Gareth Owen has seen his side pick up points to move clear of the Welsh Premier danger zone in recent weeks and a good cup run would help build confidence and bring in some welcome finance. The Wingmakers have a fully fit squad with the exception of James Hussaney who faces up to six weeks out of action after fracturing a bone in a foot last Saturday. BUCKLEY Town have the chance to show they can cut it at a higher level with a trip to mid-Wales Welsh Premier side Caersws. But boss Dave Taylor will have to make do without several first-choice players. Centre back Steve Hughes and striker Julian Pepper are almost certainly ruled out, while John Farrell, Aeron Edwards and Steve McGowan all face late fitness tests. Taylor said: 'The thing is there's no pressure on us and it's nice to have a break from the league. We know Caersws are favourites and everyone expects them to roll us over but that might be to our advantage. 'We have played some excellent football on occasions this season and so long as we don't disgrace ourselves, I'll be happy.' |
