VETERAN goalkeeper Paul Jones, who was at fault for at least two of the Slovakia goals, made no excuses afterwards. “It’s difficult to know where to start,” said the 39-year-old Queens Park Rangers star. “We had a lot of possession but they got one ball in across the box and it was 1-0 and then the second goal was down to me. “I hold my hands up for that. “But we then got back into the game with a goal. Unfortunately, we could not take that into half time. “They punished us for errors throughout the game but I thought the young lads round me did well and they can’t be faulted. “We got caught on the break too often but at 2-1 we felt we could get back in the game. “It’s up to people like me to pick up the youngsters because most of them have never experienced anything like this and that’s what we will do over the next few days. |
