WATCH your back Tiger Woods - Emily is coming!

Young golfing rookie, Emily Boyman from Pwllheli, has secured a place on the UK team for a tournament in America.

Emily, who celebrates her tenth birthday this week, booked her ticket after a stunning performance at a competition at the famous St Andrew's golf course in Scotland.

The Ysgol Abererch pupil is thrilled by the result, as her mother Wendy explained.

She said: "She played the Wee Wonders tournament in Scotland during the August bank holiday weekend, competing in the nine to ten years age group - all the other girls in the group were a year older than her and she came fifth.

"At the competition we left before the end of the presentation because we knew she had not won, so we didn't know she had won a place at the American contest until a letter came in the post a few days later.

"It was a massive shock and we are all very excited.

"The whole family is very proud of her, she has worked so hard and puts so much into her game."

Emily will represent the UK in the under-10 age group at the grand final of the US Kids Golf World Championship in August 2007.

It will take place at Pinehurst in North Carolina, the American equivalent of St Andrews, which has been the venue for many major tournaments, including the US Open in 2005.

Emily began playing with a handicap this year and it now stands at 26.

Since moving to Nefyn Golf Club she plays regularly against the lady members.

Wendy added: "She played nearly every day during the summer holidays, and still has lessons with Stuart Pilkington at Pwllheli golf club.

"She still plays now, even though the school term has started.

"My brother takes her out for a game, or she practices putting.

"The school have been very supportive of her."

This is the latest achievement in a catalogue of triumphs for the youngster.

This year she also won the Junior Welsh Open, held alongside the Welsh Open, at the Celtic Manor near Newport - the venue of the Ryder Cup in 2010.

She was the only girl playing at the Lane Junior Cup at Nefyn this summer, and beat all the boys with a handicap of 28. 721185.
