WALES are guaranteed at least three boxing medals after a successful day in the Melbourne ring. Team leader Kevin Evans led the way by stopping Ghanian Haruna Osumuna in his quarter-final. Mo Nasir and Jamie Alger-Crees also won last-eight bouts to secure bronze at the worst. "I've been to thee Commonwealth Games now and I've got three medals," said Carmarthen super-heavyweight Evans after his third round stoppage win set up a semi-final date with home favourite Stephen Rudic. "It's in the bag now but I've already got two bronzes and I want to better it. "I saw the Aussie in the worlds and he's a good computer scorer, so I'll have to work out my tactics well. "But I'm not worried about meeting him here. The scoring's been pretty fair and I like having the crowd against me. "I've been used to that all my career, even in Wales. "But sometimes I like to play up to it and be the bad guy." |
