LITTER pickers were out in force over the weekend, to raise cash for one of Llanfairpwll’s youth football teams. The Llanfair Hotshots under- 10’s team took part in the sponsored litter pick, organised with the help of PCSO Brendon Croud. Sponsorship for the clean-up will help pay towards the cost of taking two teams to a football tournament which is being held at a holiday camp in Pwllheli on the first bank holiday weekend in May. PACT (Police and Community Trust) have donated £250.PCSO Croud said: “Litter has a real impact on the quality of life for residents. Initiatives like this bring the community together, encourage them to take responsibility for their surroundings and can make a real difference in improving the environment. The 9 and 10-year-olds will be split into two groups – one group concentrating their efforts on the football field and the other going around the village, armed with bin bags and litter tongs. Dawn Roberts, a parent who is helping the team with their fundraising said: “We are very grateful to PACT for this funding which will help with our efforts. “This is a fantastic opportunity for the team to participate in out of school activities to help the local community, and hopefully we’ll be able to raise some cash in the process.” more
