BOY George, the multi million album seller whose worldwide number one hits include Do You Really Want to Hurt Me and Karma Chameleon, is to appear at the Liverpool Philharmonic on October 12. Some say that George’s life has been a soap opera played out in the tabloids since his meteoric rise to international stardom in 1982. There is however, one undeniable truth – his incredible and instantly recognisable voice that has sold millions of albums worldwide. He returned to the live concert stage this year after a 10-year absence, and is once again wowing audiences and critics with a show packed with his best-known and widely loved hits from Culture Club, his solo career, great covers and new writing. In 1987, George launched his solo career with the album Sold, which saw several hit singles in the UK. Over the next five years, Boy George would release four more albums and in 1992 had his first substantial hit in the US as a solo artist, a cover of The Crying Game for the film of the same name. In 2001, George helmed the production of his hit musical, Taboo. Performances ran in London and on Broadway through 2004 and the score was nominated for a Tony Award. Since then Boy George has performed around the world, including successful touring as a DJ. He has also recently written tracks for Kylie Minogue and will be touring South America for the first time in a decade as a solo artist. Tickets are now on sale.
