RHYL Cycling Club’s 2008 Hill Climb Championship on the old A55 Rhuallt Hill last Wednesday evening saw a bumper turnout of riders, with Rhuddlan’s Matt Limacher (Onimpex/BioRacer/Rhyl CC) regaining some consolation from a difficult road season to take a prized local title. He clocked six minutes five seconds for the average 10% incline from the start near the White House, his smooth style in the rain paying dividends. Full results (FT denotes first time at this event, PB=personal best): 1 Matt Limacher 6.05 (PB), 2 Matt West (Deeside Olympic) 6.15 (PB), 3 Richard Mills (vet-Rhyl CC) 6.21 (FT), 4 Alan Overson (vet-VC Melyd/Rhyl CC) 6.23, 5 Martin Austin (vet-Deeside Olympic /Rhyl CC) 6.44 (PB), 6 Conor Guthrie (junior 15-VC Melyd) 6.55 (FT), 7 Steve Lovibond (vet-Rhyl CC) 6.59 (FT), 8 Phil Price (vet-Rhyl CC) 7.03 (PB), 9 Stan Field (vet-Rhyl CC) 7.07 (PB), 10 Richard Green (vet-Rhyl CC) 7.08 (FT), 11 Rhion Morgan (senior-Rhyl CC) 7.14 (FT), 12th= Robbie Green (junior 14-Rhyl CC) 7.15 (FT) 12th= Nic Wright (vet- Guest) 7.15, 14 Peter Hughes (vet-Rhyl CC) 7.36, 15 Dylan K-Robson (junior 12-Rhos-on-Sea CC) 7.40 (FT), 16 Louis Needs (junior 15-Rhyl CC) 7.44 (PB). 17 Gwyn Lovibond (junior 12-Rhyl CC) 7.50 (FT) 18 Fergus Murray (vet-Rhyl CC) 7.58 (FT), 19 Paul Griffin (senior-Rhyl CC) 8.02 (FT), 20 Andy Malcolm (vet-VC Melyd/Rhyl CC) 8.04, 21 Colin Williams (vet-Rhyl CC) 8.22, 22 Mike Parker (senior-Rhyl CC) 8.51 (FT), 23 Sarah Bayliss (lady vet-Rhyl CC) 9.01, 24 Sparrow Harrison (vet-Rhyl CC) 11.45 (FT). St Asaph’s Sol Kerfoot-Robson, too young to ride the hill climb as rules dictate entrants must be 12 and over, looks a though he is favourite to gain a number of cyclo-cross titles this winter following the Rhos-on-Sea CC boy’s win in the CDNW CX U8 round at Lancaster on Saturday. |
