THE grand opening of new business premises and art gallery in Bodelwyddan took place last Friday. Kate Hamilton-Hunter and Nia Roberts, founders of The Contemporary Design Company, opened their new studio at Victoria Trading Estate to friends, family and business colleagues. The pair have been working together for three years, building up a huge following across the UK and beyond, through exhibiting in trade shows at London, Harrogate, Manchester, Birmingham and Llandudno. Kate is a jewellery designer, working in recycled biscuit tins, aluminium and silver. Nia is a contemporary artist, working in eco-friendly paints, inspired by the landscapes of North Wales. James Rabiola of Art for Design, said: "Friday night was incredibly successful for Contemporary Design. As an advertising/marketing executive from the United States, I have been to many events, but this one brought home a sense of pride that only a successful event like Friday’s can bring about. "Wales should be proud that two executives like Kate and Nia, who just a little while ago created a company while working at home has now, got the public’s eye. They not only created a company, but a ‘green company’. Kate and Nia started this company with the world in mind before it became newsworthy." Since moving into their new studio Kate and Nia have added three more members of staff to their team, and now employ five full-time and three part-time staff. |
