More incentives to get active

Jan 23 2008

By Justine Bailey

A PROJECT which provides sport and physical activity opportunities for groups has forged two new partnerships.

Currently the main focus of the Rhyl-based Mentro Allan programmes are around climbing, watersports and cycling. Mentro Allan has two sites, Marine Lake and the East Parade land train building, where these activities take place.

In partnership with Arriva buses, Mentro Allan card holders can now travel free on Thursdays from Rhyl to Prestatyn to access the Prestatyn Climbing Club, to enable them to develop their skills in a club environment. The club is based at Prestatyn Leisure Centre and runs from 6.30-8pm. Conditions apply for bus times and routes.

Mentro Allan card holders will also be able to gain free entry to any Rhyl FC home matches during February, courtesy of Rhyl Football Club.

"It’s great to see new partnerships like these with Arriva and Rhyl FC develop," said Caroline Barrow, Mentro Allan project officer.

"I'm sure they will be extremely successful and hopefully they will be a catalyst for further partnerships with locals businesses and clubs in the area."
