A FEMININE touch has been added to this year’s Faenol Festival with pop star Cerys Matthews, operatic Bulgarian mezzo soprano Nadia Krasteva and West End leading lady Shân Cothi. They will join Boyzone, Torchwood actor John Barrowman, and South African tenor, Johan Botha who had already been signed to appear. Cerys Matthews has just confirmed she will be headlining on Monday, August 25 as the festival draws to an all-Welsh rock and pop finale with Tân y Ddraig. Five-strong, all-girl X-Factor finalists, Hope will also be supporting Boyzone on the Friday night. On Saturday, Nadia Krasteva will join Bryn Terfel, Johan Botha, and soprano Diana Damrau in the Opera Gala line-up, while on Sunday, Shân Cothi will be appearing with John Barrowman and Daniel Boys for a night of musical highlights under the stars. Bryn Terfel was excited about the event: “These strong female performers are very welcome and wonderful additions to this year’s Faenol line-up,” he said. “It was looking distinctly all male for a little while, as we looked for suitable additions. I’m delighted with the result, as we’ve secured two of Wales’ greatest songstresses in Shân and Cerys.” I have a feeling we’re all going to have a great time and lots of fun.” The Faenol Festival takes place at the Faenol Estate near Bangor between Friday, August 22 and Monday, August 25.
