VENUE Cymru has announced an exciting new season ahead for an autumn bill to cheer up the long dark nights. September kicks off the season in style with the arrival of popular comedian, Joe Pasquale, the North Wales Country Music Festival, The Maelgwyn Male Voice Choir and rockers Status Quo. October sees the return of controversial comic Jim Davidson, Max Boyce, country singer Charlie Landsborough and children’s favourite dinosaur, Barney. While in the November quiet before the festive storm the Llandudno venue welcomes Welsh rockers Feeder, pop sensations The Feeling and comedian and Phoenix Nights favourite, Paddy McGuiness. Musical Shout featuring Brookside’s Claire Sweeney and Su Pollard revives the Swinging 60s as the nostalgic show brings back all the fun, freedom and music of the momentous decade. December sees the arrival of Most Haunted ghost-hunter and psychic Derek Acorah, indie chart-toppers The Kooks and who could forget the Christmas pantomime, Dick Whittington, starring Only Fools and Horses actor John Challis (Boycie) as King Rat. Venue Cymru’s marketing officer Joanne Brett looked forward to the season ahead. “It is an exciting line-up, the autumn is a really busy season,” she said. “In the summer people want to spend their time outside, but people like to go out to the theatre once the nights draw in. “We’ve got lots of one-nighters. We are looking forward to Christmas and are already ahead of this time last year and are looking to break more box office records. “Shout is our big autumn musical, which is touring the UK so we are also looking forward to that one.” |
