Venue Cymru to go tattoo crazy

Jul 23 2008

by Martin Williams, Rhyl Visitor

AFTER 14 years of being the UK’s best-selling tattoo magazine, Skin Deep thought it was about time they put on a special convention.

So, over the weekend of Friday, August 1, to Sunday, August 3, Tattoo Jam is coming to Venue Cymru, you have been warned!

This strictly over-18s only event promises to have a bit of something for everyone from tattoo artists to body art virgins.

Editor of Skin Deep Tattoo Magazine, Neil Dalleywater promises an event full of attraction including the most tattooed lady, Isobel Varley and the most pierced man, John Lynch, burlesque acts, live music and of course the opportunity to get a tattoo.

“We went for Llandudno as although there are quite a few tattoo conventions up and down the country, sadly North Wales has been missed out,” said Neil.

“So we thought it was time for Skin Deep Tattoo Magazine to put Llandudno on the tattooing map!”

On the Friday it is artists only trade day, where there will be tattoo seminars. There will also be a charity auction in aid of the Teenage Cancer trust.

The doors will be open to the public from 12pm until 12am on Saturday and midday until 7pm on the Sunday.

“The public can expect 125 of the world’s best tattooists tattooing all weekend, and there will be lots of live music supplied by Kerrang! FM radio, fashion shows, and art exhibitions,” added Neil.

“We have top traditional artists coming from Japan, Borneo and New Zealand. Also attending will be the most tattooed woman (Guinness world record holder) and the most pierced man in the world.”

Although Tattoo Jam is not an attraction for the faint- hearted Neil guarantees it has something for everyone over the age of 18.

“We have tattooists who are at the top of their field from Japan, China, New Zealand, Israel, and USA attending who are all ready to tattoo people so there is a truly international feel to Tattoo Jam. If you aren’t too keen on getting tattooed by a male artist we also have lots of award- winning female artists working too.”

Day tickets are priced £18. For more information or to book tickets log onto www.tattoojam.co.uk
